Toll Attendant
The South Bay Expressway completes the north-south link between State Route 54 and the Otay Mesa International border crossing in San Diego, California.
Reporting to Roadway Toll Plaza Supervisor, your general responsibilities will include:
- Register toll transactions and collects toll amount; makes proper change and issues receipts to patrons
- Provide drivers with available information concerning routes and area attractions
- Deal with patrons in a courteous, professional and helpful manner
- Complete and maintain necessary reports
- Handle emergency situations (vehicles, customer & traffic)
- Perform end of shift lane inspections
- Assist with emergency and safety training sessions and drills
- Assist with training, directions, motivation, and development of toll personnel
- Know how to deal with equipment malfunctions
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic:
- Customer service experience
- Cash handling experience
- Ability to resolve customer disputes while maintaining a professional, positive image of service and efficiency.
- Ability to assess a situation quickly, establishes priorities, and performs multiple tasks
- Excellent people skills and verbal communication skills
- Must pass drug and background checks
- Ability to operate a Personal Computer and prepare written reports
- Good verbal communications skills
- Neat, professional and conservative

Compensation - $11 to $12 per hour, based on experience
